Dr Michael O'Donoghue is a veterinarian with over 25 years experience.
Counting among his favourite childhood films Stormboy, A Man from Snowy River and Dances with Wolves, Dr Michael O'Donoghue was interested in animals from a young age and was intrigued by tales of famous dogs such as Old Yeller and Dusty.
After graduating from the University of Queensland in 1992, Michael worked mostly in small animal practice and also spent 2 years working in the UK. From the year 2000- 2005 Michael worked for the Iams company which became Proctor and Gamble pet care.
In 2006 Dr Michael O'Donoghue met Penny Carroll and formed a pet loss support group called Pets and People. This was the culmination of a long held desire to help people who are struggling to cope with losing their much-loved animal companions.
As an experienced veterinarian specialising in small animals, it was a natural choice for Michael to establish a support network to provide opportunties for grieving pet owners to find and reach qualified pet loss counsellors. Since its inception, Penny and Michael have running pet loss seminars, a pet loss website, pet loss sympathy cards and pet loss counselling though Pets and People.
Dr Michael O'Donoghue now works as a locum vet at different practices around Brisbane and South East Queensland. He has been a president of the Queensland committee of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and the northern representive and honary treasuer of the ASAV a committee for veterinarians with a focus on small animals.
